We were able to identify this model in a Blenko 1951 catalogue on page 7 (screenshot attached). Blenko Glassware was sold throughout the world. Blenko pieces are in leading museums throughout the world. Because it was not mass produced it has the quality and comparative rarity. Blenko Glass Company was established in 1922 in Milton, West Virginia by William J Blenko and his son William Henry Blenko. They began as makers of stained glass and was the only company making antique stained glass by the “muff” process - a way of creating stained glass identical to the oldest techniques used in the 11th century. Only with this method can  graceful shapes and unusual texture of this glass be obtained. The formulas for making this glass have been handed down from father to son and consist of 200 shades of color. The Blenko stained glass windows can be seen at St. Patrick Cathedral, the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, Horkness Library at Yale University, the National Cathedral in Washington, the Chapel of Duke University, etc.   In the 1930’s Blenko began making tableware for home. Each piece was available in 8 colors: Nile, Turquoise, Jonquil, Persian, Lilac, Aqua. Crystal, Tangerine The decanter is in very good all original condition and is 22 in. (56 cm) High. The weight is 4.26 lbs. (1935 g). Unmarked.  No chips or cracks of any kind.  The pontil mark is perfect. We made no attempt to clean the glass from the inside. Some signs of vintage wear and aging (light scratches, etc.), small air bubbles, glass making impurities are present and must be accepted. The piece is very clean and comes from a smoke free environment. This great find would be a perfect addition to any of mid-century, Eames style collection!
