The mask has metal fittings, brass or copper with incised design and small discs on forehead.  Cultural significance in Dan society wooden masks represent immaterial forest spirits and are used in masquerades, performances and to maintain social order. Mask is heavy at over 3 pounds and measures 14" tall by 8 1/4" across by 7 1/4" deep. Has attached on forehead and top of head decorative brass fittings and mask is handmade and hand carved. Good vintage condition showing overall wear with a couple chips on top and on bottom back, cracks and repairs, also repaired chip to top of lip, nothing obvious or distracting. Condition: Used.
