Striking antique Czechoslovakian black glass perfume bottle dating to the Art Deco period, circa 1920s–1930s. Beautiful architectural form with a heavy trapezoidal body, broad polished facets and deeply cut stylized floral/leaf decoration. The dramatic matching stopper has a tall geometric diamond/pentagonal form with multiple polished facets and a ground-glass plug. The extremely dark glass appears nearly opaque black under ordinary lighting, giving the bottle the dramatic appearance associated with Czech Art Deco vanity glass of this period. The combination of angular geometric cutting with sweeping stylized botanical decoration is particularly attractive and quintessentially Art Deco. Details: Czechoslovakian/Czech style black glass; cut and polished decoration; large faceted geometric stopper; ground-glass stopper and neck; stylized floral/leaf motif; unmarked; approximately 1920s–1930s; maker unknown.
