Vintage 1960s BERGERE Matching Set: White Flower Brooch & Clip-On Earrings This is a lovely vintage set in exceptional condition: 1960’s BERGERE flower brooch with matching earrings. The set only had one owner: my fashionable mother. I only recall her wearing this set on a few occasions. It was kept in its original gift box in her jewelry drawer for all of these decades and appears to be in mint condition.  The maker’s mark is on the earrings.  Bergere was founded by Jack Pohs in Providence, Rhode Island, making jewelry with the “Bergere” mark in 1948. The collection followed fashion trends of the day. Like other vintage costume jewelry companies that were clearly American-made, Bergere chose a French-sounding name to sound more exotic as part of a marketing strategy.  The gold tone brooch features a single white metal flower with layers of petals. It is a modern design and quite stunning. It measures just under 1.5" wide and is about .75" depth.
