VERY EARLY CORBIN MORTISE LOCK 6 3/4" FACE. 3" BS, FULL RESTORATION   (40939) Vintage, extremely hard to find, early Corbin mortise lock with a 3" backset manufactured without a model number which they started to use in the later 1800's. (see pics). This mortise was likely made for  an entrance door or a for a larger interior door.  Measurements for the mortise are outlined below:   FACEPLATE:   Mortise lock has a Japanned face with a length of 6 3/4" and a width of 1" and thickness of 1/8".   MORTISE BOX: The mortise box itself is 3 7/8" deep from the front edge of the faceplate and the box 5" high.   Box is 5/8" thick.  The lock is reversible. BACKSET: The backset is 3". DROP: The drop (the distance from the the center of the knob post hole to the center of the top of the round portion at the top of the key slot is 3 1/8 ". KNOB POST:   The lock accommodates a standard 5/16" knob post.    KEY: The lock comes with a brass key.   If you are simply replacing another lock of the same size, you may not need a strikeplate, but if you do need a strikeplate, let us know and we can see if we have one we can add to your purchase before shipping.        SEE OUR COMPLETE INVENTORY OF MORTISE LOCKS: HERE!
