This necklace is believed to be from the 1970s era. It belongs to the tradition of pan-Indian powwow regalia and mid-century southwestern tourist trade fashion. These seeds are prepared by being dried, pierced while soft, and threaded into the strand, giving the necklace a highly tactile, earthy Bohemian aesthetic.
