This iconic "surfboard" style tray features Weavewood’s signature hand-woven checkerboard pattern. Up for sale is a beautiful, authentic piece of Mid-Century Modern functional design: a  14" x 8.5" genuine walnut serving platter  manufactured by  Weavewood, Inc.  out of Minneapolis, Minnesota. This iconic "surfboard" style tray features Weavewood’s signature hand-woven checkerboard pattern. Thin strips of high-quality American walnut veneer were intricately woven together, infused with a protective resin, and molded under high pressure. The result is a lightweight, durable, non-absorbent platter with elegant contoured rims along the long sides for an easy grip. Condition Details: Excellent Vintage Condition:  The wood is flat and uniform with no warping, splitting, or peeling. Original Markings Intact:  The back features both the crisp, heat-stamped factory mark reading  "WEAVEWOOD INC. MINNEAPOLIS"  and the original red-and-gold foil paper label. The label reads:  "Hand Woven • Genuine Walnut • Dishwasher Proof! • Weavewood Reg. U.S. Patent • Non-Absorbent, Virtually Unbreakable, Warp-Proof • Weavewood, Inc. Minneapolis." Please look closely at all provided photos to confirm its excellent structural and cosmetic condition before purchasing. Care Note: Although the vintage 1960s/70s marketing label states "Dishwasher Proof," modern automatic dishwashers use much higher heat and harsher chemical detergents than those available when this was made.
