Vintage graduated turquoise disc-bead (heishi) necklace measuring approximately 18 inches end to end and weighing approximately 35 grams. The single strand is composed of graduated blue to blue-green disc beads featuring varied brown/tan matrix and variations in color, shape, thickness, and surface character. The largest discs are concentrated at the center and gradually decrease toward the ends. The necklace is strung on fiber cord with hand-tied knotting at the ends and a simple brass-tone wire hook-and-eye clasp. It is unsigned, and I do not have documentation identifying the maker, specific Southwestern/Pueblo origin, turquoise mine, age, or stone treatments. The beads appear consistent with turquoise, but the material has not been independently gemologically tested.
