Featured in the 1910 catalog (see pic).  Heavy clean brass faceplate, completely restored!  Beautiful functioning lock. The 961 has a 2 3/4" backset. This lock accommodates a thumb press handle from the outside and a turn knob from the inside.   NOTE:   Sargent made several generational changes to the 961 during its long lifetime.  This appears to be one of the earlier versions wherein the lock has a double face with a brass cover plate on top.  The mounting screws are under the brass face and they are on 7" centers.  If you have a 961 model in your home, your house was built in a great neighborhood in the early part of the 20th Century!. THE MORTISE: FACEPLATE MEASUREMENTS: Heavy brass double plate face, measures 7 3/4"  by 1 1/4" by 3/16" thick.     SCREWS:  Mounting screws are on 7" centers underneath the top brass plate.   BOX MEASUREMENTS:   Box is 3 7/8" deep from the front edge of the faceplate to the back of the black box.  It is 5 5/8" top to bottom.    BACKSET: (the distance from the front edge of the front plate to the center of the knob post hole) on this one is 2 3/4" .   DROP: (the distance from the center of the knob post hole up to the center of the lock cylinder hole is also 3 3/4".   FUNCTIONALITY: Designed for a 5/16" 1/2 knob post from the inside and for a thumb press handle from the outside.   If you are replacing an existing set you may not need a strikeplate, but, if you do, please check with us before bidding to see if we have what you need.  We can then add it to the description and the price.    Extremely well made, no rust, functions very well, with both keys!
