Each mug has the distinctive sculpted dark brown branch-style handle. Description: Beautiful set of four vintage Franciscan Desert Rose small coffee mugs, made in the USA and dating to approximately 1979–1984. These charming mugs feature Franciscan’s iconic Desert Rose pattern with pink roses and buds, green leaves and brown branches against a warm cream-colored background. Each mug has the distinctive sculpted dark brown branch-style handle. The hand-applied decoration varies slightly from mug to mug, giving each piece its own individual character while maintaining a beautifully coordinated appearance as a set. Each mug bears the vintage Franciscan Flying F / U.S.A. backstamp. The additional two- and three-digit numbers visible on the bottoms are decorator identification numbers rather than date codes. One of Franciscan’s most recognizable and enduring patterns, Desert Rose features raised, hand-painted-style pink roses with yellow centers, lush green leaves and brown branches surrounding the gently scalloped rim. Each bowl has slight variations in the decoration characteristic of this classic pattern. The slight differences in placement, shading and brushwork of the floral decoration give each piece its own individual character.
