Disneyland Holiday Magazine (Spring 1957, Vol. 1, No. 1) This was a free, quarterly promotional magazine created by Disney Legend Marty Sklar. Stocked in local Southern California motels, hotels, and travel hubs, Vacationland served as a promotional tool to draw guests into Disneyland and surrounding regional attractions. The complimentary quarterly magazine was launched in 1957 under the name Disneyland Holiday. The publishers of the established national periodical Holiday magazine threatened to sue Disney over the name infringement. Disney quickly changed the publication's name to Vacationland (and later Disneyland Vacationland / Walt Disney World Vacationland) to avoid legal action.
