These auger bits are made in Japan by WoodOwl and are the finest auger bits available anywhere. These bits are made from high-carbon S55C steel specially designed for WoodOwl bits. These bits are classified as Ultra Smooth Tri-Cut™ because as they have 3 precision ground flutes, cutting heads and spurs (the outer cutting edge that scores the outside of the hole). They cut very cleanly because the spurs score the outside edge of the hole before the cutter heads clears material from the hole. The unique Tri-Cut™ design produces holes that are extremely smooth with minimal blowout. Plus, these bits cut with minimal torque. This makes them an excellent choice to be used in hand braces with an adapter. They come hand sharpened from the factory which enhances their cutting speed. These bits are not cast or forged but milled and ground from solid round blanks of steel. This machining process produces bits that are perfectly concentric with very little wobble. They will drill accurate diameter holes, require less energy to power through wood and create less heat in the process. The sharp lead screws are precision ground and machined allowing these bits to start immediately into wood once the drill starts to turn. The lead screws pull these bits straight and true through all types of wood with minimal wandering. These bits are made from high-carbon S55C steel specially designed for WoodOwl bits.
