While these silver ombre glasses are widely seen attributed to Dorothy Thorpe, they were more than likely made by Vitreon or Century. Dorothy Thorpe's barware is predominantly known for a band of heavy silver or gold encircling the entire glass inside and out along the rim or flecks of gold suspended in the glass itself. Offering this amazing vintage Mid Century Modern silver metal drink caddy with eight silver ombre highball/tumblers.  While these silver ombre glasses are widely seen attributed to Dorothy Thorpe, they were more than likely made by Vitreon or Century.  Dorothy Thorpe's barware is predominantly known for a band of heavy silver or gold encircling the entire glass inside and out along the rim or flecks of gold suspended in the glass itself.  These silver accented barware items were all the rage in the 1950 and 60's and were again made popular with the Mad Men TV series.  This set is in very good to excellent condition.  It appears to have seen some light use and very gentle care.  Most of the glasses have little if any loss of silver luster. I did notice a couple of the glasses have some thinning of the ombre silver luster, but it is noticeable only when held to bright light. One of the glasses has a small area of silver overspray present since the time of production in the middle to lower part of the glass. These glasses stand 6 1/4 inches tall and are 4 3/4 inches in diameter.  Each glass holds 12 ounces of your favorite beverage to the rim. The silver metal caddy is free of rust and structurally intact.  There are no chips, cracks, stains, utensil markings, or signs of surface wear present.  This set continues to show beautifully and I consider it to be in very good condition. #6342 OFT Condition: Used.
