The rounded body is decorated against a rich cobalt-blue ground with famille rose-style flowers, birds, butterflies and auspicious motifs, accented by pale turquoise and yellow bands. This colorful vintage Chinese porcelain covered urn measures approximately 7 inches high with its coordinating lid. Two pierced iron-red handles flank the neck, while the domed lid is finished with a cobalt finial. The underside has a turquoise glaze and bears an iron-red four-character mark reading “Qianlong Nian Zhi,” translated as “Made during the Qianlong reign.” This is considered a later commemorative or apocryphal reign mark and is not represented as indicating production during the eighteenth-century Qianlong period. A loose paper label reading “Jing Wen Jian” (京文检), associated with Beijing cultural-relic market inspection, was found preserved inside the vase and will accompany it.
