This is a lovely piece of doll millinery history and a wonderful display accessory for an antique French fashion doll, bisque lady doll, or larger bébé. Antique Victorian-era doll bonnet (mid-to-late 1800s) with an approximate 9 inch interior opening, sized to fit a good-sized French fashion or bisque lady/child doll; the crown is made of delicate ivory dotted net lace (point d’esprit style bobbin lace) with a scalloped edge, framed by dense hand-ruched loops of narrow cream silk ribbon forming a full textured brim, and ties with a wide dusty rose/mauve satin ribbon bow and streamer on one side, with a secondary pale mint green grosgrain ribbon bow at the interior. Bonnet has overall age-related toning and discoloration to the lace and ribbon, some fraying and loose threads with a few small holes/weak spots typical of delicate 19th-century fibers, general wear and a few loose or frayed ribbon loop ends, and a couple of small spots/marks on the satin ribbon, torn tie pieces, though the piece remains structurally intact, odor-free, and displayable.
