The back tests around 3K gold and silver. Victorian gold filled floral taille d'épargne brooch with dangle - 1 3/8" x 7/8" This is a lovely antique Victorian-era brooch featuring a round ball dangle and Taille d'épargne enameled decor. The enameled insert is attached to a hollow body and set into place, as seen from the anchor point on the back. The top of the brooch tests as a mix of silver and 6 to 7K gold, with what appears to be brassing at the edges. The back tests around 3K gold and silver. The ball closure is not soldered shut, so it's uncertain if the ball dangle is original to the piece. This brooch would also make a very nice pendant if converted. Measurements: - Approximately 1 3/8" high and about 7/8" wide, with a depth of 8.46mm (not including the height of the C-clasp and pin mechanism). - Weight: Approximately 6.1 grams (all inclusive). Markings: - None noted. - Some tarnish. - Unpolished. Condition: - Overall good antique condition. - The hollow brooch has some minor issues: - A small hole in the thin metal near the ball. - A minor "crack" along the edge opposite the ball at the top. - A small tear in the thin metal by the T-bar mount. - A collection of very small pin-head-type dings, most visible under magnification, to the top. - Multiple holes on the bottom, with an unknown origin. - Shows wear consistent with age.
