The dramatic multi-faceted black beads have the appearance commonly associated with French jet jewelry — faceted black glass traditionally made to imitate natural jet. Each large bead is individually hand knotted, providing both security and a beautiful drape. Beautiful and substantial vintage faceted black glass bead necklace featuring oversized graduated beads, traditional hand-knotted construction and an ornate silver-tone filigree box clasp. The dramatic multi-faceted black beads have the appearance commonly associated with French jet jewelry — faceted black glass traditionally made to imitate natural jet. The beads were tested with a Presidium Gem Tester II and register at the upper end of the glass range. Because handheld gem testers have limitations, they are being conservatively identified as black glass / French-jet-style glass rather than natural jet or another gemstone. Each large bead is individually hand knotted, providing both security and a beautiful drape. The necklace finishes with an ornate round silver-tone filigree box clasp.
