Hand Cut Crystal Brass Marble Base Compote Pedestal Bowl Prisms Hollywood Regency Stunning vintage Hollywood Regency cut crystal pedestal bowl / compote , dating approximately to the 1960s . This substantial decorative centerpiece combines a beautifully cut clear bowl with an elaborate antiqued gold-tone metal pedestal, cascading faceted crystal prisms, and a genuine white marble base. The bowl features an intricate combination of large floral blossoms, elongated leaves, geometric diamond cuts and finely textured details , finished with a decorative cut border around the rim. Viewed from above, the elaborate cutting creates an especially impressive starburst effect around the center fitting. Beneath the bowl is an ornate Rococo / Baroque Revival-style pedestal with scrolling acanthus-like decoration, fluted architectural details and a crown of curved metal arms. Numerous clear faceted prisms and large teardrop pendants hang around the pedestal, catching and reflecting light beautifully. The entire piece rests on a substantial 4” square white marble plinth with natural gray veining. At just over 4 pounds , this is a solid, substantial decorative piece with much more presence than a lightweight modern reproduction. This style of crystal, ornate metalwork, hanging prisms and marble base was particularly popular in Italian Hollywood Regency décor during the mid-20th century . The piece is unmarked, so Italy is listed as the most likely origin rather than a confirmed attribution . Perfect as a dining-table centerpiece, console display, mantel accent, decorative fruit bowl, compote or statement piece in a Hollywood Regency, French Provincial, Rococo or traditional interior. The bowl remains clear and brilliant, and the cut decoration is crisp and highly reflective. There are no cracks or significant chips - one small section of the scalloped rim feels slightly rough to the touch (see last photo).  It is very difficult to see visually and does not affect the appearance of the bowl but can be felt when running a finger along the rim.   The hanging prisms display beautifully and retain excellent sparkle. As expected with a piece of this age, the metal pedestal has natural patina, darkening and finish variation , and the hanging wires/connectors show some oxidation and age. The marble has natural veining and minor surface signs consistent with age. The protective felt underneath shows wear. Condition: Used.
