Up for sale: a lovely pair of vintage Taxco, Mexico sterling silver stone-inlay stud earrings, hallmarked "Mexico," "925," and the beginning of a "TL-" workshop registration code (partially worn, as is common on pieces this age). Each oval earring, about 1/2 inch, depicts a charming pictorial scene: a bird in flight over an ocean horizon, rendered entirely in inlaid natural materials - turquoise chip inlay for the water, mother-of-pearl for the sky, and iridescent abalone or shell forming the bird itself. This multi-material pictorial inlay technique is a hallmark of mid-to-late 20th century Taxco silver workshops and is more labor-intensive than simple single-stone inlay pieces.
