We have left the tarnish alone, and it polishes easily if a brighter look is preferred. The filigree is intact and the stone and pearl are secure. The stone shows light surface wear consistent with age. The clasp closes securely. The lavalier was one of the defining necklace forms of the early 20th century: a single pendant drop, often with a secondary pearl or stone, worn on a fine chain. By the 1920s, Deco designers gave it a more architectural look, with tapered spires, stepped geometric frames and crisp emerald-cut stones.
