Vintage Brooch/Pin of Terrier Dog (Scottie?) and Dog House This vintage brooch shows a dog (Scottie?) sitting and looking at his dog house. As you can see from the photos, there is good detail in the brooch showing the dog's eye, collar and hair as well as the clapboard construction and shingle roof of the dog house. There is also a chain going from a loop in the dog's collar to the corner of the dog house. The brooch is not large measuring just one and three quarters of an inch wide by a little over half of an inch tall. The metal has the appearance of brass, but I am not certain of its composition since there are no hallmarks. The closure mechanism on the back is comprised of a straight pin and C shaped loop, with no safety mechanism. The brooch is in very good condition with the only sign of age being the darkening of the metal; there are no bends or missing pieces. All is original to its manufacture (1930s-40s?). This cute pin would be great for a dog lover or someone who enjoyed wearing a bit of whimsy. I welcome any questions that you may have.
