It is hard to notice on the brilliant cut. This stunning piece is a Large Antique American Brilliant Period cut glass centerpiece punch bowl compote on a round pedestal base. It is heavy lead crystal with brilliant clarity. Deeply cut patterns. The elaborate patterns and deep cuts in this footed compote bowl date it to 1880–1910, during the peak of the American Brilliant Period (ABP). The clarity, high-quality lead crystal, and hobstars, fans, and crosshatched diamond design are all hallmarks of that period. The scalloped rim with deeply pointed arches is especially lovely and adds to the sense of opulence. It is most likely Libbey, Hawkes, or T.G. Hawkes & Co. The pedestal base is beautifully turned and fluted. This would have likely been a centerpiece for a formal table meant to catch and reflect candlelight. 9”Hx10.25W - heavy!
