Authentic Japanese Imari porcelain plate produced at the Arita kilns during the late Edo period, circa 1820–1860. The scalloped rim, dense porcelain body, and confident hand-brushed decoration reflect pre-industrial export Imari made for the Western market. Japanese Imari Porcelain Plate Edo Period c.1820–1860 Arita 8.5” Export This object comes from a long-held private collection formed over decades of collecting. The seller has been an eBay member since 2015 as a buyer and only recently began releasing selected pieces, including this one. Authentic Japanese Imari porcelain plate produced at the Arita kilns during the late Edo period, circa 1820–1860. Hand-painted in underglaze cobalt blue with overglaze iron red and green enamels, centered on a flower-filled vase motif surrounded by alternating paneled floral reserves. The scalloped rim, dense porcelain body, and confident hand-brushed decoration reflect pre-industrial export Imari made for the Western market. The underside shows freehand-painted concentric blue base rings and a painted pseudo-mark typical of Edo export ware. The footrim exhibits honest age wear with exposed porcelain at the rim edge, consistent with long-term handling and shelf use.
