These small dishes are authentic, artisan-crafted Murano glass "Tree of Life" trinket dishes. They were hand made on the island of Murano in Venice, Italy. The technique used is called "mille fiori" which is Italian for "1000 flowers'. The design is created by combining multiple rods of glass in different colors so that a design runs all the way through the "rod" or "cane". Each design is a "slice" off the main "cane" and is then applied to the surface of the object being decorated, which in this case are the small glass dishes. The Murano "signature", the letter "M", is found in the lower right hand corner of each dish to indicate the authenticity of these charming little trinket dishes.
