This beautiful vintage hand-beaded evening purse was purchased by my grandparents during their 1971 trip to Hong Kong, then lovingly tucked away until my grandmother gifted it to me around 1985 when I was about 20 years old. I've never actually used this. Instead, I had it hanging on a vanity desk for a while, then stored in a small box. It has always been stored in smoke-free homes. The exterior is beautifully hand-beaded with a base of countless ivory-colored seed beads. The raised flowers, butterfly, leaves, and stems are created using clear seed beads sewn over colored threads in soft pastel shades of blue, pink, peach, green, and yellow, producing a delicate translucent effect. Pearl-like accents add dimension and complete the elegant design. The purse's soft pastel color palette gives it a gentle, romantic and understated appearance - a refreshing departure from the bolder colors more commonly seen among vintage beaded evening bags. The interior is lined with satin and is clean overall. There is one small stain, and few light smudges on the satin lining, shown clearly in the photographs. I don't know what caused them since I didn't use the purse - could be from the patina of the snake chain having been stored inside of the purse for a long time. The gold-tone frame remains exceptionally bright and attractive with no maker's marks or metal purity stamps present. The kiss-lock clasp opens and closes securely, and the gold-tone snake chain wrist strap folds neatly inside the purse using its original swivel attachments. All hardware functions properly.
