Beautiful and hard-to-find (HTF) early Blenko #384 double-spout water bottle/pitcher in Blenko’s iconic Tangerine color. Beautiful and hard-to-find (HTF) early Blenko #384 double-spout water bottle/pitcher in Blenko’s iconic Tangerine color. This hand-blown American art glass bottle displays especially vibrant coloration, transitioning from deep ruby red through fiery orange into brilliant golden yellow. The dramatic red-to-gold appearance is sometimes described by collectors using the term Amberina, although Tangerine is the Blenko color designation. This example is signed/marked on the base with Blenko’s early sandblasted block-letter mark, documented by Blenko collector reference material as having been used from Spring 1958 through Summer 1961. The mark provides a much narrower production window than later Blenko #384 bottles. The bottle also retains its original Blenko Handcraft foil label. Hand-blown construction is evident throughout, including natural variations in shape, glass thickness and color distribution. This example has a substantial, thick and somewhat irregular base, along with particularly strong ruby-red coloration. While these characteristics are interesting features of early production, an exact individual year within the documented 1958–1961 period cannot be confirmed. The iconic #384 double-spout water bottle is one of Blenko’s recognizable Mid-Century Modern forms and makes a striking display piece for a collection of Blenko, MCM, vintage American art glass or hand-blown glass. Condition: Vintage pre-owned condition with age-appropriate wear. Original foil label remains attached and shows expected age-related wear.
