Beautiful vintage Japanese studio pottery tea cup set featuring six individual stoneware cups/bowls presented in their original fitted wooden storage box. Each cup features its own earthy glaze variation in shades of celadon green, blue, cream, gray and brown, with attractive speckling, glaze movement and darker rim accents. The slight variations between pieces give the set a wonderful handmade studio-pottery character. The cups have traditional footed bases with exposed unglazed clay rings. The bottoms are unmarked. Included is the original fitted wooden presentation/storage box with six individual compartments. The sliding/front panel features Japanese calligraphy/inscription. The inscription has not been definitively attributed to a particular artist or kiln, so no specific maker attribution is being made.
