View 1-1/8" I Sorby Sheffield tang style wood paring carving gouge 15-3/16" long with current marketplace pricing, condition, product images and item details. It seems quite tight on the tang. You are bidding on one I Sorby 1-1/8" tang style wood gouge as pictured. It is marked "I SORBY CAST STEEL" on the neck, and with an owner name twice on the handle that has been mostly rubbed out. Actual width at the sharp edge, measured outside edge to outside edge, is about a 32nd over 1-1/8". Length of the blade, from the sharp edge to where it starts to narrow down to the neck, is about 7-7/8". Overall length including the handle is about 15-3/16". I Sorby was probably one of several possible Sheffield residents named John Sorby. Please see the book Goodman's British Planemakers 4th Edition for much more information about Sorby. Condition of the blade is fair to good, with some areas of heavier pitting scattered on both sides. Otherwise it has a light patina (color) and a few little spots of lighter rust or pitting on both sides. The back side has some light scratches from a prior cleaning. It will want a sharpening. Condition of the handle is good to very good, with only a few scratches and dings in the wood, the rubbed-out owner names as noted, and very light wear to the struck end. It seems quite tight on the tang. SHIPPING: 1 or 2 pounds when boxed, shipped US Postal Service Ground Advantage, insurance and tracking are included. No International shipping. l sell what I enjoy, and I collect antique woodworking tools and I enjoy photography! The queue is overflowing with tools right now, as they seem to be finding me faster than I can list them. So please keep watching as I have LOTS more to list! ETHICS IN DESCRIPTIONS: I also buy for my collecting on eBay, and I have been burned too many times by misleading (duh did I forget to mention .......) descriptions, and auctions with pictures only of the left side because the right side was trashed. Life is much simpler for me if I disclose what I know or see about an item before you bid, and especially before you receive it in the mail. I come from the handshake school of doing business, and hopefully you are like me and understand what that means. What goes around, comes around. RETURN POLICY: I believe that if you give honest descriptions, and include enough pictures, you shouldn't need a return policy. However, that doesn't mean that I won't make an occasional mistake. Please bid with the assurance that if I have made an error in my listing, I WILL take care of you. SHIPPING: I use the US Post Office for everything. If the value is $250 or over, I will always require a delivery confirmation signature, which eBay requires for the buyer and seller protections to be in effect. INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING: I no longer ship Internationally other than Canada. If you are in Canada, ask for what the shipping would cost, but be prepared for it to be $$$$$. NEWSLETTER: Every Friday eBay sends out an email with my newsletter featuring 10 of my most interesting new listings. To subscribe, click on the heart symbol that is labeled SAVE SELLER, and that will automatically get you on the mailing list for the newsletters. They are free, and you can unsubscribe at any time. SELLING OUTSIDE OF EBAY: Why would I risk my lengthy good standing with eBay to save you a couple of dollars? Especially when you ask on an email that is sent through the eBay email system which they are reading? Please don't ask, the answer is no. AUCTIONS: I won’t end an auction listing early to sell it to you directly. As a bidder, I really dislike going back at the end of an auction to bid, only to discover that the seller had ended the auction early. So I won’t do that for you, or to you. PACKAGING: Please check my feedback -- I package well. I understand how disappointing it is to receive a purchase where the seller clearly didn't care about how it was packaged. I work to package everything with lots of protection for it, and I always use a new box or new envelope. OFFERS: I will always consider an offer, some longer than others. Your best chance of success happens if the item has been listed for a while, your offer is reasonable (to me!), and you are a regular customer. I am a long-time active member of the PNTC or Pacific Northwest Tool Collectors, and a long distance member of the MWTCA or Mid-West Tool Collectors Association. And once in a while I might turn up at a PAST meeting! I hope someday I will meet some of you as we trudge the happy road of tool collecting! Condition: Used. Category: Collectibles › Tools, Hardware & Locks › Tools › Carpentry, Woodworking › Chisels. Brand: Sorby.
