By 1886–87—when this pattern appeared in their illustrated catalog—the firm was at its creative peak, producing richly decorated services in the high Victorian and revival styles. In 1898 Meriden joined the newly formed International Silver Company, marking the end of its independent era but preserving its legacy as one of the most influential manufacturers of 19th century American silver plate.
