The intricately sculpted group impresses with its dynamic composition and the very decorative polychrome painting. The large, curved tail feathers in strong blue and turquoise tones and the finely crafted feather structure of the two animals are particularly effective. The figure comes from the production of Gräfenthal in the GDR, circa 1972-1990. The bottom has the corresponding manufacturer brand. Dimensions: Height approx 16cm Width approx 28 cm Condition: The porcelain itself is in excellent condition - no chips, no cracks, and no noticeable damage or blemishes. Due to age, the red glaze painting on the combs and throat flaps has been partially rubbed or lost. This only applies to the red color setting; the porcelain underneath is undamaged. The paint loss is well documented in the detailed photos. Other than that, the figure presents very nicely and with shiny glaze. A large and decidedly decorative animal sculpture from the Gräfenthal porcelain tradition - an attractive collector's item for lovers of GDR porcelain, animal figures and vintage German porcelain.
