View Early 1900's Photo African American Child in White Dress and Lace Cap with current marketplace pricing, condition, product images and item details. The child is seated in a chair and is wearing a white dress and a lace cap. Children of both sexes often wore dresses because it was more convenient for changing diapers. I think that this image is of a boy - the hands are large and look masculine. This little  early 1900's 1 1/2 by 2 inch photo of an African American toddler has been mounted on a gray 2 3/4 by 3 1/2 inch gray photographers card. The child is seated in a chair and is wearing a white dress and a lace cap. Children of both sexes often wore dresses because it was more convenient for changing diapers. I think that this image is of a boy  - the hands are large and look masculine. Written in pencil on the back and visible under a strong light is "Paul Hackett to Grandma and Grandpa". Likely this is the name of the child. There's also an impressed name and address of a photography studio beneath the image - I've included 2 photos, but unfortunately,  no manipulation of my photo editing program makes it legible. Under a loop, I can see that the second word of the company is "Photo". The sepia image though small is clear. There's a strip on the left edge that looks like the edge of another photo - it was probably one of a strip of photos. The wide eyed child does not look happy with the photographer! Condition: Used.
