This rare antique English majolica teapot features a whimsical crying fish swallowing fish design. It would make a stand-out addition to any collection of antique pottery. It would make a stand-out addition to any collection of antique pottery. This unique and colorful Majolica piece was produced in the United Kingdom in the late 19th century. The teapot is hand-painted and features exquisite craftsmanship and detail. The color palette used is gorgeous. It is a captivating representation of Victorian-era ceramic artistry. The teapot itself is in very good (VG) condition. There are no cracks and only a few small chips on the interior rim of the pot. The lid, however, does have several cracks and a large chip. It appears the lid was dropped and broke into several pieces at some point in its life. It has been professionally repaired. From the exterior, the cracks are very discreet and unremarkable. The inside of the pot shows a bit of spotting/discoloration. There is a note inside from a previous owner, dated 1949. It is pictured. I'm not sure why the fish appears to be crying. The paint must have run a bit before it was fired. It gives the piece an incredibly unique look. I couldn't find any others with the same tear effect. Don't let this beauty swim away from you!
