These boots received their legendary color via a dye process involving the bark of sequoia trees. They eventually created a whole line of Irish Setter boots to appeal to hunters and outdoor workers. This is a decent pair of Red Wing Heritage Classic 6 inch moc toe boots in Oro-legacy leather, model number 875 - one of the most famous boots of all time. These boots received their legendary color via a dye process involving the bark of sequoia trees.  In fact, this reddish-orangish-brown color prompted this style to receive the nickname "Irish Setter" and Red Wing even made special labels with the name. They eventually created a whole line of Irish Setter boots to appeal to hunters and outdoor workers.   The traction tred soles allow for these to be more comfortable on concrete floors and the leather over cork insoles allow for these to adjust over time to the wearer's feet.   When first introduced, these boots quickly became the favorite of hunters and farmers due to their stout protection from the elements via the triple-stitched leather and Goodyear welted soles as well as the single-piece leather that goes all the way up the shaft.   The common recommendation for Red Wing boots, as well as most other high quality goodyear welted boots, is to size down about a half size when buying; but not if your foot is extra wide - in that case, don't size down.   Because these are pre-loved, expect there to be nicks and scuffs as well as some sole wear here and there. I have tried to show these in all of the pictures, particularly the last two which show the most prominent nick as well as a square of duct tape on one of the insoles.  If these are the sorts of things that bother you -- which is just fine -- then these are probably not the boots for you.
