The gold tone finish has the look of real gold. Bright and shiny like new. Gerrys stopped production in the mid 1990s. There's a tiny dark spot. Whatever the finish is, it's a very heavy finish. In my opinion descriptions of Gerry's jewelry has been rated as low quality, I disagree.  While this brooch is not of the quality of Italian cameos it's still stunning. The gold tone finish has the look of real gold. Bright and shiny like new. It measures 2" by 1 1/4".  Gerrys stopped production in the mid 1990s.  Please look at the pictures.  There's a tiny dark spot.  It's where someone tested it for gold.  Whatever the finish is, it's a very heavy finish.  I don't have expensive equipment or backdrops or a lot of space to work in..
