This necklace is circa 1930. This is a beautiful, Vintage 14" Faceted & Graduated Crystal Bead Necklace with Sterling Silver Clasp. The beads are immaculate, but the knotted cord has slightly darkened. The largest bead is 13mm and the smallest is 5mm. It weighs 33g. The round clasp is stamped "sterling". This necklace is circa 1930.   Most vintage faceted lead crystal beads were created   through a multi-step process involving pressing, machine-cutting, and fire-polishing . Molten glass is pressed into shape, faceted on grinding wheels, and then briefly reheated in an oven to melt the surface, creating a smooth, high-gloss finish.   Pressing/Molding:  Molten glass, often containing lead for added brilliance and weight, is pressed into molds to create the initial shape (such as bicone or round) and a hole. Faceting:  The pressed beads are placed on a machine that uses cutting wheels to grind facets onto the surface. Fire-Polishing:  To remove the dullness from grinding, the beads are placed in a kiln and heated just enough to melt the surface, creating a natural shine. Please see my other listings too.
