This shirt was manufactured by Adidas for the 1994 World Cup in the US, but never used after the Argentinian Football Association (AFA) disapproved the third colour on the shirt: the black vertical stripe details. This shirt was manufactured by Adidas for the 1994 World Cup in the US, but never used after the Argentinian Football Association (AFA) disapproved the third colour on the shirt: the black vertical stripe details. This is a very rare shirt released by Adidas in 1994 that supposed to be the Fifa World Cup “Usa” home shirt. But when Adidas proposed the shirt to the AFA before World Cup, Julio Grondona, president of the federation at the time, stopped the production. The albiceleste pattern was the basis of the kit as tradition dictates, but the reason for the ban is the color of the outlines of the stripes. The federation rules provided for the only use of light blue and white on the home shirt, without the addition of other colors and the black color represented an insurmountable obstacle. While the shirt was ultimately changed and the team wore a new version of the kit, without the black stripes, Adidas had already produced some shirts and some of them were also put in the market. The result was that fans were seen wearing the shirt during the tournament. This became one of the rarest Argentina shirts ever produced. A rare prototype home shirt that every football shirt collector should have. In superb condition!
