A beautiful and increasingly difficult-to-find hand-painted Blue Ridge Southern Potteries “Hawaiian Fruit” pattern in the desirable Piecrust Edge variation. Each dinner plate is marked on the reverse: Blue Ridge Hand Painted Underglaze – Southern Potteries, Inc. – Made in U.S.A. This charming mid-century set includes: * 6 Dinner Plates (approximately 10⅝”) * 3 Lugged Berry Bowls (7”) * 1 Covered Sugar Bowl * 1 Sugar Bowl Lid The distinctive, vibrantly colored, hand-painted fruit and foliage motif on the classic piecrust-molded rim with brown banding. This is the harder-to-find piecrust version of the Hawaiian Fruit pattern, not the later multicolored banded variation. Condition Overall, the set displays beautifully and has been carefully inspected piece by piece. Dinner Plates * Four plates are in very good vintage condition. * Two plates have small chip on the underside rim (see photographs). These are not visible from the front when displayed or in use. * One plate has a few dark firing/manufacturing marks near the rim that did not respond to careful cleaning. Berry Bowls * Two bowls are in very good vintage condition. * One bowl has a small chip on the underside rim. * One bowl has some crazing in the fruit motif area. * One bowl has a manufacturing/glaze imperfection on the underside foot ring. Covered Sugar Bowl * Sugar bowl is in very good vintage condition. * Lid has one small chip on the underside rim that is concealed when the lid is in place. No cracks or repairs were found on any piece. Please examine all photographs carefully, as they are considered part of the description.
