The lidded box features a highly detailed, deeply embossed high-relief design of overlapping chrysanthemum flowers across the top and cascading down the sides. It boasts a stunning aged bronze-tone patina that gives it an authentic, historic character. Based on construction and design, this piece is consistent with Japanese export metalware (often referred to as antimony or white metal alloy ware) dating from the late Meiji to early Taishō period (circa 1890–1930).
