Beautiful, large vintage/antique Japanese Satsuma style decorative water ewer/pitcher standing an impressive 15 inches tall. This stunning pottery piece features traditional hand-painted Bijin (beautiful women/geishas) on a cream-colored background, framed by a striking forest green gradient trim. The piece is heavily embellished with intricate moriage (raised enamel detailing) and rich gold gilt highlighting throughout the dress patterns and floral borders. The bottom base is hand-marked with authentic Japanese maker characters and shows a fine, genuine glaze crazing consistent with its age and earthenware construction. The handle shows damage.
