An exceptionally lovely survivor from the Edwardian era, constructed from lightweight, semi-sheer white cotton with delicate embroidered floral detailing and lace insertion. The bodice features a high neckline with lace trim, decorative lace running over the shoulders and down the front, three-quarter sleeves finished with lace cuffs, and a row of small buttons down the back. Beautiful authentic antique Edwardian white cotton lawn dress, dating approximately to the early 1900s–1910s. An exceptionally lovely survivor from the Edwardian era, constructed from lightweight, semi-sheer white cotton with delicate embroidered floral detailing and lace insertion. The bodice features a high neckline with lace trim, decorative lace running over the shoulders and down the front, three-quarter sleeves finished with lace cuffs, and a row of small buttons down the back. The long, softly gathered skirt is finished with wide horizontal bands near the lower portion and hem. The fabric has a wonderful light, airy quality characteristic of Edwardian white summer dresses and lingerie dresses of the period. The construction, proportions, lacework, embroidery, and tiny back buttons give it a beautifully feminine turn-of-the-century appearance. No maker's label, size label, initials, or other identifying markings were found. Considering its age of well over 100 years, this dress is in remarkably well-preserved antique condition. The white cotton remains especially clean and bright overall, and even the long hem shows surprisingly little wear. There are minor age-related imperfections consistent with an antique textile, including a small dirt/discoloration mark on one of the lower skirt bands. There are also two small areas where the lace trim has pulled away from the adjoining cotton fabric (one at waist and one near back shoulder); the lace itself remains intact. These areas could potentially be secured with careful hand stitching if the buyer chooses to repair them. Please examine all photographs closely for condition. The dress has not been aggressively cleaned or stain-treated, as I preferred not to risk damaging the antique cotton or lace.
