The green turquoise displays beautiful variations from pale mint and blue-green to richer apple green, with areas of natural golden-brown matrix. The ring is signed “DD” and “Sterling.”. Based on the source of the inventory, this piece is believed to be a minimum of 20 years old and potentially 20–40 years old. This large oval face ring features an intricate geometric channel-set inlay of green and blue turquoise, individually fitted and separated by sterling silver channels. The green turquoise displays beautiful variations from pale mint and blue-green to richer apple green, with areas of natural golden-brown matrix. We believe the green turquoise to be Carico Lake turquoise, based on its characteristic coloring and matrix. The ring is signed “DD” and “Sterling.” Based on the DD Sterling hallmark, period, construction, and comparison with documented examples of his geometric multistone inlay work, we believe this ring to be the work of Navajo silversmith Donald Douglas. As the original artist documentation is no longer present, the Donald Douglas attribution is based on hallmark and stylistic research rather than documented provenance. This is a substantial piece weighing 19.12 grams, with a twisted sterling rope border surrounding the inlay and bold radiating silverwork along the shoulders.
