Offered is a beautiful pair of large vintage ANRI hand-carved and hand-painted wood figurines from Italy , retained in our family collection for more than 30 years . These are unusually substantial ANRI carvings, approximately 9–10 inches tall , with detailed carving and expressive hand-painted finishes. The first depicts two barefoot boys playing leapfrog , an especially animated and complex ANRI composition with the upper child captured in mid-vault over his companion. Comparable examples are commonly identified by collectors as “Leap Frog.” The second depicts a young wanderer or traveler , wearing a broad-brimmed hat and carrying a walking staff over his shoulder with a cloth bundle and flask/canteen. The figure is beautifully detailed down to the bare feet, hands, clothing folds and traveling accessories. One carving retains its original green-and-white underside label reading: “Genuine Wood Carving by ANRI © Italy” An ANRI marking is also visible on the base of the companion figure. Both carvings display the traditional ANRI combination of hand-carved wood, softly shaded hand-painted color and expressive European character design for which the Italian workshop became well known. These pieces have been owned by our family for more than 30 years , establishing family provenance dating to at least the mid-1990s. They were not recently acquired or assembled as a resale pair. Based on comparable ANRI designs, these appear consistent with mid-to-late 20th-century production , likely within the general 1970s–1980s era, although no exact production year is being represented. Condition: Very good vintage condition overall with age-appropriate surface and finish wear. Please inspect all photographs carefully for condition, as the photos form an important part of the description. No restoration is known to us.
