Rosenthal Maria White / Maria Weiss Porcelain Serving Platters – Set of 2 – Made in Germany Beautiful matched pair of genuine Rosenthal porcelain serving platters in the classic Maria White (Maria Weiss) pattern. The Maria design features Rosenthal's distinctive faceted geometric shape with a detailed raised floral and fruit relief border surrounding a glossy white porcelain serving surface. The timeless all-white design works equally well with traditional or contemporary table settings. Both platters are marked on the underside with the green Rosenthal Germany factory backstamp. The sizes correspond closely to Rosenthal's Maria White 33 cm and 38 cm serving platters: Smaller platter: approximately 13 inches long Larger platter: approximately 15½ inches long Rosenthal identifies the Maria collection as a design first introduced in 1916 . The Maria White pattern has remained in production for many years; these particular pieces are not being represented as having been manufactured in 1916. Condition: The smaller platter is in very good pre-owned condition. The larger platter has a small chip on the underside foot rim. The chip is underneath and does not detract from the appearance of the serving surface when displayed. Please see the close-up photograph. Both pieces show light normal evidence of previous use/storage, including minor surface wear and some marks/discoloration around the underside foot rims. No other chips, cracks or repairs observed. A handsome and useful matched set for an existing Rosenthal Maria White service, replacement collection, holiday table, wedding or formal serving set. Both pieces bear the Rosenthal Germany factory backstamp. The smaller platter also has a small factory “P” mark, while the larger has an impressed “79” production mark. These appear to be secondary factory/production marks rather than date or pattern marks.
