The strechi-ness allows for comfort moving about when worn around your waist to hold a blouse-y top snug around your body. Woven elastic belt in a geometric weave pattern with a large round slip ring to pull the belt thru (see photos). The belt has a lot of stretch (up to 10") but it's not meant to be stretched when worn, you should have close to a 30" waist or smaller, as the slip ring style holds the belt in place with friction and pulling it taught may overcome that.
