Both wood sculptures are made of a solid log and not being an expert, I do not know the kind of wood used. It is very dense wood and quite heavy. As can be seen in the photos, each sculpture is slightly different so they make an interesting pair to display together. Found at a local estate auction, there is no mark or other identification as to an artisan or date. The dimensions are about 14" & 14-1/2" tall x 4"& 4-1/2" depth x 4" width. As one piece is slightly taller, it weighs about 4 pounds, while the other weighs 3 pounds 6 ounces. Vintage condition is good with the exception of several long thin cracks where the wood has dried and contracted. An effort has been made to fill the cracks, but more attention might be needed. Overall surface patina is quite appealing. This great looking sculptured pair would be a wonderful gift, an addition to a collection or an eye-catching decorative accessory.   Please email me if you have any questions!
