Amish Sunshine and Shadows Quilt. 1930-40, Lancaster Co., Pa. A very nice example of an Amish Lancaster co. quilt. All wool with two shades of purple in the border, and beautiful jewel-toned colors in the squares. It is quilted at 7-8 stitches per inch. The outer border is quilted in a running floral vine, and the corner blocks are quilted with flowers and bows. The center squares are quilted in Xs through each piece. The back is gray wool, and the wide binding is a medium blue. Entirely pieced on a treadle machine. Near mint. Never used or washed.
