The steel cut ones have the original black leather back piece. The clip part on the back is adjustable so you can make them higher or lower on your shoes. They will need to be polished, they have some rust. The rust seems to only be on the surface and should be able to be cleaned and buffed out. It is mainly on one clip on the front, but there is some on the back of both. I have just wiped these down with a damp cloth. The black bow ties are newer probably from the 1980's so they are still vintage. They don't look like they were ever worn much. I have just wiped them off with a damp rag also.
