This dainty set is on the line between small demitasse and cabinet set. The white cup is shaped like a flower bud and the saucer is shaped like a leaf with gold decoration. The cup is detailed with gold trim around mouth and handle with heavy gold decoration on leaf-like at the base. Royal Sealy was popular in the United States in the 1940s & 50s with a reputation for luxurious and affordable designs. Both pieces are in very good condition with light wear commensurate with age. There is some loss of gold trim most notably on the saucer well and sepal or bottom leaf part of cup (example, photograph 16). Minor production blemishes include dots or waves in material (example, photograph 17). The cup is marked in rust for Japan. The saucer is stamped in rust with text which reads; Hand Painted / Royal Sealy. Made in Japan.
