These decorative bowls, often used for serving candy or jellies, are characterized by their intricate hand-cut patterns and high lead content, which gives them exceptional clarity and brilliance. The American Brilliant Period (circa 1876–1916) is known for elaborate geometric and floral hand-cut designs. ABP cut glass are high-quality pieces that often comprise 35% to 50% lead oxide. This high density is what gives the glass its exceptional "brilliance," weight, and a clear, bell-like ring when tapped. This piece features a sawtooth rim, a paneled stem, and a footed base with matching geometric motif. It is lead crystal, which is heavier and reflects light more brilliantly than standard pressed glass. ***In good antique condition for such an old piece; not mint. Part of one sawtooth at the top has broken off; and there are a few spots around the bottom edge that have small chips or have chipped off (although it’s very hard to tell.).
