The author is now selling the items she gathered for the piece. Some of the future lots will be accompanied by a photocopy of the original illustrated article (5 pages).  This lot does not come with the article but it is has a lot of history. Mothers with a son in service or sweethearts with a sweetheart in service could buy these pins at jewelry stores and wear them with pride. The pin has separated from the badge or medal. It can be reattached with adhesive or the medal can be holed, given a jump ring, and worn as a charm or pendant. Being flat, it could also be added to a medal collection in a 2x2 holder. It is marked STERLING on reverse. It is almost half an inch in length.
